Hardware and tools in Yiwu: where the category is traded, what to check before you order, and the mistakes buyers make.

Hardware, tools and bags in Yiwu

Hardware, tools and accessories, locks and electrical products trade from floor 2 of International Trade City District 2, with kitchen and bath hardware on floor 3 and bags, umbrellas and rainwear on floor 1. The International Production Materials Market adds power tools, industrial electrical equipment and measuring tools on floor 2.

Hardware is the category where the market floor and the factory belt overlap most: the production materials market sells to factories, while the trade city sells to buyers.

What to check before you order

For tools, ask for the material and the standard the tool is built to, and whether the claim on the tool matches the specification in the order. Grade names differ between suppliers and mean different things.

For bags and umbrellas, ask about the fabric weight, the stitching and the hardware, since these are the three lines that decide whether the goods survive a season of use.

Where the mistakes happen

The usual hardware failure is a mixed carton where the cheap line is substituted for the specified one. Put the specification on the purchase order line by line and check a sample of the packed cartons against it.

The second failure is claiming on arrival: tool sets and small parts are counted by piece, so a short delivery needs a recorded count at packing rather than a dispute later.

We do not publish per-stall prices. Ask each supplier for the unit price at three quantities and at the same specification, and treat any level quoted on this page as a starting point for negotiation rather than a market rate.
